Playoff picture after week 7: Who's in and who's not?

We have already made it seven weeks through the regular season of the 2024 European League of Football. So, let's take a look at where teams are in the early renderings of the playoff picture.

There are only two undefeated teams left in the league: Stuttgart Surge and Vienna Vikings. They grab the Semi-Finalist-spots, that’s an easy one. But what about the teams behind them?

Semi-Finalists:

1) Vienna Vikings (7-0)
The Vienna Vikings remain undefeated in week 7 after beating their rivals, the Raiders Tirol, 27-16. As it stands now, the Vikings would hold the top spot in the post-season, meaning the road to the ELF Championship Game in Gelsenkirchen would go through Vienna. They would also enjoy a first-round bye week and play the lowest-seeded team next.

2) Stuttgart Surge (5-0)
After week 7, the Stuttgart Surge are the second semi-finalists. Due to their second bye week, they did not play this week and remain undefeated. The 2023 runner-ups won all five of their games this season and have just two fewer wins than the Vikings, making them the second seed in this exercise. At this moment, they would enjoy a playoff bye week, at least one home playoff game, and play the second-lowest seed to advance.

Wildcard Round:

Raiders Tirol (#6) at Rhein Fire (#3)
After this weekend's games, the first game of the Wild Card round would be a matchup between the Raiders Tirol and Rhein Fire. While the Raiders lost a close "Battle of Austria" against the Vienna Vikings and now have a record of 5-2, Rhein Fire extended their winning streak against the Cologne Centurions and improved their record to 6-1.

Madrid Bravos (#5) at Paris Musketeers (#4)
The Bravos moved up a spot thanks to the Raiders' loss while they themselves returned to winning form with a victory against the Frankfurt Galaxy. They now have a 4-1 record, placing them third in the Western Conference. Their potential opponent in the Wild Card round would currently be their direct conference rival, the Paris Musketeers. The Musketeers also have a 4-1 record after their win against the Hamburg Sea Devils but are ranked higher due to a better head-to-head comparison with the Bravos.

In the Hunt:

Berlin Thunder with a 4-3 record, closely followed by the Munich Ravens with a 3-3 record.
